Open Minded Crafting Challenge #30-Up In the Air

Hello!

This weeks challenge over at

is 'up in the air', and I have these adorable super hero girls to work with from one of our great sponsors,

Here is what I did with the super hero girls:

The image came to me in color, so I tried to match the rest of the card with the color scheme of the girls.

I stamped the background with a Hero Arts stars background stamp, then die cut some stars, too.

For the sentiment, I got out my letter stamps and stamped 'reach for the stars'.

I hope you will join us over at Open Minded Crafting fun  and show us your 'Up in the Air' project!  :)

Simon Says Stamp Challenges

Hello!

Today's cards are for the Simon Says Stamp Monday and Wednesday challenges.  I really like doing these challenges because it gets me to play with my stuff!  :)  I hadn't played in a few days so it felt good to create!

This card is for the

where we are to be inspired by a happy place.  I am inspired by MY happy place, my craft room. I also decided to play around and make a tag instead of a card.  I played with some ink sprays, stamps, ribbons,  and some shimmer.  Love.

This next card is for the

where we are to showcase Simon Says Stamp products and to use texture.  I thought this cute invitation made from 2 die cuts and using a Simon stamp set was cute, and the bakers twine adds some texture.  I also added some shimmer to the balloons.  The inside is clear embossed to add more texture.

As always, thanks for visiting!  Be sure to follow for future cards!! :)

Handmade Centerpieces for Cub Scouts

Hello!  :)

First off, before I share today's post.....

don't forget about my GIVEAWAY that I am having, you can see that post

I am trying to get to 100 followers, so please spread the word and tell your crafty friends about my blog!  :)

Ok, now on to today's project.  :)

If you are familiar with the Cub Scouts, you know that once a year is the Blue and Gold banquet, where awards are given that the boys have earned.  I am on the planning committee for the scouts, and I volunteered to make centerpieces for the banquet.  After looking on Pinterest for inspiration, I came up with this mason jar idea.  Luckily, Michael's had mason jars on sale for .99!  I made 8 centerpieces and I love how they turned out.  :)

They were pretty easy to complete, the most time consuming part was doing the rosettes.  I have the Tim Holtz rosette die and they really didn't take that long.  Maybe an  hour to make 24?  I watched TV while I did it.  :)

The large fleur de lis on the jar was from another Tim Holtz die.  I shredded kraft cardstock for the inside of the jar and bought some cheap silk flowers to put inside the jar.

Here's a close up of one of the rosettes:

I think they will look great on our tables for the banquet!  :)

Thanks for visiting!

Challenge for Red Carpet Studio!

Hello!

I hope you will join us over at

for this week's challenge, we are to be inspired by this movie poster for 'My Fair Lady ':

Our challenge: Create a 'girly' projects with lots of layers.
Here's my take on the challenge:

I used 2 new stamp sets from Stampin Up.  The flowers on the background piece are from a set called Painted Petals, and the large flowers are from Petal Potpurri.  I used pigment inks from Avery Elle.  I just love how pink and girly this is, and I created some 'layers', by using different thicknesses of foam dots on the flowers.

I hope you like it and will visit Red Carpet Studio to participate in this challenge!  ;)

Thanks for visiting!  :)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge cards

Hello!

Today's cards are for the Simon Says Stamp Monday and Wednesday challenges.  I really like doing these challenges because it gets me to play with my stuff!  :)  I hadn't played in a few days so it felt good to create!

This card is for the

where we are to use red and pink as the main focus of the card.  Done!  Since Valentine's Day is Saturday, this was easy. :)  I used a new background stamp from Unity and the hearts were scraps left over from another project.  I also used my distress inks.  Love this card!

This next card is for the

where we are to showcase Paper Smooches stamps!  I only have 2 sets, so I thought I'd use this cute fish stamp and the adorable sentiment, birthday fishes!  :)

I spent a good deal of time watercoloring the background....and the 'bubbles' are glossy accents.  :)

As always, thanks for visiting!  Be sure to follow for future cards!! :)

2nd grade Valentine's!

Hello!

Hope everyone is having a great day, today I wanted to do a quick share on the Valentine's we're making for my little boy's class.  He's in 2nd grade, and I wanted him to be involved in the process, so when I got my January Paper Pumpkin kit from Stampin Up (you can see my video on it here:)

Here's the supplies we had out:

This is perfect for 2nd graders, I had my son write the names of his classmates on the hearts.

He also placed the starburst candies in the cellophane bags.

then we just clipped the heart to the bag.  no messy glue needed!  We did use some adhesive for the 'flags', but that's about it.  There were 24 in his class, and he did about half of them before he got bored.  Mom did the rest.  :)   His party is on Friday so I hope his classmates like them!  :)

Thanks for visiting and be sure to follow for all my cards and crafts!  :)

Faery Ink Inspiration Post

Hello!

Today I have with my Inspiration post for February over at Faery Ink, using this adorable

Owl Always Love you digi stamp:

I colored the owls, stars, and moon using my Copic markers, then applied distress ink (Weathered Wood) to the whole background using an foam ink applicator.

For around the edges, I swiped all edges with Versamark ink, then applied black granite embossing powder and heat set it.  I really like the edges the embossing gives.

I had a lot of fun with this card and I hope you like it! :)

Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Hugs,

Kathryn

Crafty Gals Corner Challenge #6 - Anything Goes

Hello!

This week over at Crafty Gals Corner the challenge is Anything Goes.

Our sponsors this week are:

Prize: $10 Gift Certificate

AND

Prize: 4 Digital Images

AND

Prize: 3 Digital Images

I chose this adorable Balloon Girl from Lemon Shortbread, and it was screaming birthday to me!  :)

So I colored her and the balloons with my Copics and chose some birthday patterned paper to go with it:

Here's a close up of my girl:

The sentiment is actually cut from patterned paper, so there's really no stamping on this card at all!  I mounted the girl and the sentiment with foam dots, and added a few sequins too.  :)

Be sure to check out all the entries over at Crafty Gals Corner for more inspiration!  :)

Have a great day!  :)

Valentine Gift Card Holders

Hello!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!  I did some much needed house cleaning today and even a bit of yard work, since the temps were around 50 degrees. When is spring coming???  This teaser day was wonderful!!

But tonight I am in the craft room where I am working on gift card holders for my kids.  I always get them a little something on Valentine's Day, always have, and now that 2 of them are teenagers, they want gift cards.

My youngest child, who is 8, isn't getting a gift card, he's getting a DVD of Mr. Peabody and Sherman. :)

I used my gift card die from A*Muse (I used it at Christmas, too, in this post ).

I have also been using a lot of the Valentine stuff I got in the Target Dollar bin (as seen in this post).

And my hubby is getting the card I made for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge a few weeks ago.  You can see that card here.  :)

Here is the first card:

Challenge for Red Carpet Studio!

Hello!

I hope you will join us over at

for this week's challenge, we are to be inspired by this movie poster for 'Winter's Tale ':

We are supposed to use a winter theme and snowflakes, paint or modeling paste.

Here's my take on the challenge:

I used a snowflake stencil and some texture paste. Boy that stuff is fun to work with!!  After is was completely dried, I inked all around the card with some Weathered Wood distress ink.

The snowflake and sentiment are cut from my Cricut!  I used the Just Because Cards cartridge.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!  :)
