Warmest Wishes Card

Hello!

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving....it's important to give thanks for all the blessings in our life.  It's not all about shopping and Black Friday deals ya know!  ;)

But now I guess we are officially in the Christmas season....my house is all decorated inside and out, so I've been taking a break from cards.  But I made one tonight for the Simon says Stamp Monday Challenge and it literally took 10 minutes.  I love cards like that!  I had the brown triangles as part of a birthday card kit and they were extra pieces.  I turned them upside down and saw trees!  So I created a card with non traditional colors (well, I used green, but you know what I mean).  The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions, they seriously have ADORABLE stamps and dies!

I stamped it with brown Versafine ink and clear embossed, then die cut it with a sizzix shape die.

For the background on the green, I stamped a woodgrain background stamp with Versamark and clear embossed, but the textured nature of the paper really didn't stamp well, but I still went with it.

Then for my 'trees', I cut trunks out of scrap cardstock, then added some red and green gems.  And on the side, a strip of gold and white washi tape.  Quick and easy.

I also got a new phone this weekend (iphone 6 baby!!), so I'll be able to do videos again.  I haven't done one in a while because my iphone 5 was filled up and I didn't have enough memory.  I'll work on a video this week!

Have a good night!  :)

Faery Ink DT Call!

Hello again....today's blog post is for the Faery Ink Design Team Call....it's a digital stamp store on Etsy and they have some really cute images.  These type of images are out of the box for me....I love and will always love good old fashioned rubber stamps.  :)  So I am really challenging myself by trying out for this!  ;)  But it's a good challenge....I am discovering a whole digital stamp and challenge blog world out there that I didn't even know existed!  But if I still get to play with paper and ink, I'm happy!  :)   It will also give me practice on my Copic coloring, which I really want to learn how to use them properly.  Goodness knows I've spent enough money on them, let's use them!  ;)

This image is from Faery Ink, and I decided to go with purples...

The sentiment is from Hero Arts, stamped with versamark then white embossed.  Then I used some Prima flowers and some clear rhinestone gems to finish off the card.  I like how it turned out!  :)

Have a good night!  :)

Snowman with Lawn Fawn snowflake dies

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!  I hope everyone has a great holiday tomorrow and has a wonderful meal....I know I will!  :)  But today I'm still thinking of crafting, not turkey!  :)

This card is for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, where they are showcasing Lawn Fawn products.  I have these snowflake dies from Lawn Fawn, so I thought I'd use them on this cute snowman card.  :)

I cut out the dies with white cardstock, then places them under a piece of vellum to mute them a bit.  I cut the vellum with the square stitched stax die from My Favorite things.  I use those all the time!

Then I cut a circle using the circle stitched stax die from MTF and stamped this cute snowman from Purple Onion Designs.  I added some glossy accents to his scarf for some dimension.

Lastly I wanted the card to say 'Winter Wishes', but believe it or not, I don't have a stamp that says that!  I must remedy that!  LOL  But I had a 'winter' stamp from Purple Onion and a 'wishes' stamp from an old CTMH set so I winged it.  ;)

Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Joyful distress inks tree

Happy Sunday!

Hope everyone is doing well.....I actually got outside yesterday and put up our outdoor lights...since it was about 50 degrees I thought why not?  I'm not turning them on until the day after Thanksgiving, though....gotta respect the turkey!  LOL

Today's card is a simple one....I stamped the image on watercolor paper and clear embossed then colored it in with distress inks.  I used my favorite colors for it:

Mowed Lawn
Festive Berries
Gathered Twigs
Salty Ocean
Dusty Concord
Squeezed Lemonade

I used a scrap piece of the red stripe and a strip of washi tape.
The sentiment is from Studio Calico in a pack of 4 I got at TJMaxx for .99!  Score!

I just love coloring with distress inks....love my waterbrush!

Have a great rest of the weekend!  :)

Distress Tree card and die cut inlay technique

Hello!

Today's card is made for the current Simon Says Stamp challenge to use their exclusive products.

I have this very pretty Merry Christmas die and decided to use the inlay die cut technique I saw over on Jennifer McGuire's blog a long time ago.  Basically I cut out the die and then put it back in place after embossing it with gold.

I am also using the Tim Holtz tree that I colored with distress inks.  I used:

Mowed Lawn
Festive Berries
Gathered Twigs

This stamp set also came with dies to match (which I LOVE), so I die cut the ornaments and adhered them with pop dots.

And here's a close up of the die cut inlay.  It was pretty easy....the hardest part was replacing all the small loopy pieces!  I need glasses for that!  :)

As always, thanks for visiting and be sure to follow me either by email or 'Join this site' to get all my latest card ideas!  I love sharing my love of cardmaking!  ;)

Pretty Penguin!

Hello!

Hope everyone is staying warm.....it sure is cold here and throughout most of the country really!  All the more reason to stay in and create!  I made this card today and am just in love with this cute little penguin....he is from Unity Stamp Co., isn't he just darling?

I stamped him in black pigment ink, then clear embossed and colored him with Copics.  Then I covered the penguin and candy cane with glossy accents and let it dry thoroughly.  Then I was able to ink the cardstock and keeping the penguin uninked.  Love this masking technique.

I finished up the card with some pattern paper from a Christmas paper pad, then stamping the sentiment (which came with the Penguin stamp) and clear embossed.  The star is an unused piece from another project.  it was laying on my table so I thought what the heck.  LOL

I would also like to thank all my visitors and those who leave kind comments.  I do read each one, and I am going to try and do better to respond to each one.  I love that I am reaching others with my blog and sharing my love of scrapbooking and cardmaking.  :)

Stay warm!  :)

Snowy day card making!

Hello!

Did it snow where you are today?

Here in SW Ohio, we got about 5 inches of the white stuff, which is VERY early.  We rarely have a before Thanksgiving snow, let alone that much!

So on our snow day, I made some cards....and I'm back to Christmas....I have about 35 cards ready to be sent out, and that's about how many are on my Christmas list, so I'm good I think for this year!  :)

Here's one I made today....

The ornaments are from Stampabilities and the sentiment is from Purple Onion Designs.

I stamped the ornaments on watercolor paper then used my watercolor pencils to color it in.  I like how it turned out!

I'll save my other cards for other blog posts.  :)

Have a good night! :)

Taking a break from Christmas cards....

WHAT???  yes, I'm taking a break from Christmas cards, at least for today!  LOL

I was playing around with my distress inks and backgrounds and really liked how this turned out, so I thought I'd share!  :)

Now, of course, I didn't write down what colors I was using, but it looks like:

Broken China
Dusty Concord
Antique Linen
Spiced Marmalade

The stamp set is Treasure Life from Close to My Heart.

I just love the look of all the blended inks, don't you?

I finished it up by using my Wink of Stella pen on the flowers for some shimmer.

Have a great day and I'll be back with some more Christmas cards soon!  :)

Stars card!

Hello!

Today's post is for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, where they are seeing STARS over there!  For this card, I had to dig out my old star punches, which I bought when I first started scrapbooking in 2000!  I may have to revisit my punches....I found many old friends I had forgotten about!  :)

Anyway, here's the card...

The striped paper is a scrap from a birthday paper pad, and I like how colorful it is, so that's why I chose the sentiment, 'You add color to my life', which is from an old set from Hero Arts.  I punched out the stars on the stripes, then punched out 3 more on scrap paper and embossed them silver.  I adhered the silver stars on a white notecard, then used foam adhesive to adhere the stripes.  It gives some dimension to have the stripe paper popped up.  I like this look!

Then I stamped the sentiment on vellum and glued it on.  Voila!  Another card in less then 10 minutes (once I figured out the design!  LOL).  I also punched out mini stars and glued them to the stripes.

That's all for today....have a good one!  :)

All Dressed Up Design team call!

I am entering the design team call for All Dressed Up Digital Stamps, so here is my entry.....a pretty 'Joy to the World' digital stamp that I colored with Copics, then cut out and mounted on a traditional card.

I like the idea of digital stamps, because you can print them out to any size you want!  This image was from their 'freebies' page, but they have lots of great digital stamps in their Etsy store.

I hope I am chosen and thank you for your consideration!  :)

Embossed Ornament Card

Hello!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Today's card is for an entry in the

which is to use an ornament on a card.  It's using a Hero Arts Ornament set and I was playing around with using embossing powders in different areas of the image.  I wanted the hanger of the ornament gold and the rest red, so I masked it off when embossing the red, then stamped it again and did the gold.  I like how it turned out.

I wanted the rest of the card to be pretty simple, so I embossed the sentiment in gold, than cut out the white using a rectangle stitched die from My Favorite things.  Then I mounted everything on the dark green cardstock.

Then I embossed a sentiment on the inside and I called it done!  :)

All in all I think this is a very pretty card.

I have a few more cards to share this week so stay tuned!  :)

Have a good night!  :)

Distress Ink Nativity Scene

Hello!

Today I wanted to buy a new stamp set (like I don't have enough already, huh?), but I was looking for more Christian Christmas stamps instead of trees, santa, etc.  So I found this one of the Nativity and thought it'd look great on a sky type background.  So I got out my distress inks!  The colors I used were:

Dusty Concord
Faded Jeans
Broken China
Frayed Burlap
Old Paper

But first I stamped the Nativity on white cardstock with pigment ink then clear embossed.  I stamped another one on a scrap paper to use as a mask when I applied my distress inks.  I also used a post it note as a mask to differentiate between the sky and the sand.  Then after it was all done, I added some 'stars' by spraying water on the background.  I love how it makes the watermarks.

Finally I removed the mask and added a fine yellow line with a Copic marker to act as a 'halo' around the Holy family.  I added some shimmer with my Wink of Stella pen.

I stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink then trimmed the piece and added it to a white card.  I really like how this turned out and may do a few more for my Christmas cards this year.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night! :)

Joy to the World Washi Tape Card

Happy  Wednesday!

Today's card is a simple one....using washi tape and a cute stamp from Purple Onion Designs.  I colored the image with Copics and the washi tape is from Making Memories and Stampin Up.  Both from my stash.  But I am loving how this turned out!

And here's a close up of the 'Joy'

I am just loving these quick cards done in about 10 minutes!

I am also collecting quite a stash of Christmas cards to send out this year....are you making your cards?  Leave me a comment and link me to your card....I'd love to see them!

Have a good night!  :)

Merry Christmas die cut and trees card

Hello again!

Thanks for visiting tonight, tonight I have a cute card that came together accidentally!  I cut out the Merry Christmas from a Simon Says Stamp die and wanted to use it, but couldn't figure out what I wanted to do.  Then I saw these trees from a Hero Arts set that I had triple clear embossed to  make them very shiny, plus some extra scallop punch pieces that were in a scrap pile, and I started playing around and came up with this::

The green dot paper is a scrap, and I just mounted everything on a red top folding card and Voila!  I ran the Merry Christmas die cut through my Xyron instead of gluing it.  Much easier!

Here's another close up of the trees.  I stamped them with green pigment ink and clear embossed them 3 times so they have a 'laquered' look.  Then I cut them out.  I added some red gems as ornaments.

I'd say for an accident card, it turned out really cute!  :)

Please be sure to 'follow me', too, so you don't miss out on any updates!  :)

See ya tomorrow!  :)

Watercolor Pencil Winter Scene card

Hello there!  It's been a few days since I've updated my blog....I had some minor surgery on Wednesday and wasn't really feeling like being crafty, but today I am feeling much better and missed playing with my stuff!  :)

I chose to use watercolor pencils.  I love how this card turned out....very pretty and Christmasy!  :)

The stamp is an old one from Northwood stamps, and I stamped it on watercolor paper and clear embossed.  That makes it easier for me to control the watercolor.

I added some clear stickles to the ground to make it look more like snow.  I used sizzix dies to die cut the image and mat piece, then mounted the whole thing on red.

Here's a close up of the watercoloring:

I mounted everything onto a black notecard and stamped a sentiment and embossed with white embossing powder.

I am happy with how this turned out and be sure to stop by and visit again!

Have a good night!  :)
